Temporary email for Steam
The largest PC game marketplace and launcher. Use a lasting address for a Steam account with games, purchases, or items. An inbox that expires cannot receive future account recovery messages. Keep disposable mail for unrelated one-time tasks.
Should you use temporary email for Steam?
Use a lasting address for a Steam account you want to keep. A game library can outlive a disposable inbox by years. InboxForNow cannot reopen an expired mailbox, and we have not tested whether Steam accepts our receiving domain. A successful one-time delivery would not prove future access.
Find the prompt before requesting another message
Steam’s Steam Guard guide distinguishes codes delivered by email from codes in the Steam Mobile app. A mobile-authenticator prompt cannot be completed by receiving email here.
Steam Guard asks for an email code
Open the address already registered to the Steam account. Check its spam folder. Steam’s missing-code checklist also recommends trusting its support and noreply senders, allowing up to 30 minutes for delivery, then signing in again for a new code.
InboxForNow begins with a 10-minute lifetime. If you are doing a permitted receiving test, extend that inbox before its timer runs out. Extending it does not change the email address registered with Steam or guarantee delivery.
The prompt refers to the Steam Mobile app
Follow the authenticator instructions in Steam’s own app and help. Creating another email inbox does not replace that authentication method. The Steam Guard guide explains how the two methods differ.
A newer code arrived after an older one
Steam’s guide says to use the most recent code. Compare the message timestamps before entering one. Do not publish a real code, account name or recovery message in a screenshot or test report.
The registered temporary inbox has expired
That inbox and its messages cannot be restored here. Use Steam’s account-email help for the account you already own. A different temporary address does not recover access to the previous mailbox or transfer your library.
Testing emails from your own game or application? Use the reproducible synthetic email examples and the receiving checklist. Those examples test our processing code; they are not a Steam signup, purchase or delivery test.
Steam’s code-help page and broader FAQ give different waiting/escalation intervals. Follow the page for the prompt you have; neither interval is an InboxForNow delivery promise.
