About InboxForNow

A temporary inbox, with its limits in plain sight

InboxForNow is a free receive-only temporary email tool. Learn how addresses, expiry, message cleanup, and our product guides work.

What the service does

InboxForNow creates a temporary email address in your browser without requiring an account or your everyday email. It is designed for permitted one-time messages and manual email testing in applications you control. The main inbox starts with ten minutes and can be extended up to 24 hours remaining.

It receives email only. It does not send replies, provide SMS verification, forward to another mailbox, or offer account recovery. A temporary address is a poor choice for purchases, subscriptions, workspaces, or anything you need to access later.

The inbox lifecycle

  1. Create: opening the tool creates a mailbox on an active receiving domain. A made-up address is not automatically a mailbox.
  2. Receive: arriving mail is parsed and sanitized. The browser polls for new messages every three seconds while active. Sender delivery times vary.
  3. Expire: access ends when the timer expires. Scheduled cleanup removes expired mailboxes and messages every five minutes. Expired inboxes cannot be recovered through the app.

This tab keeps its active inbox identifier in browser session storage and revalidates it with the server after a reload or a visit to a guide. Reloading does not extend the timer. If browser storage is unavailable, the inbox works in memory until the page is left. New address deliberately selects another mailbox. Read the troubleshooting guide before requesting repeated verification messages.

What is stored and what is removed

The service stores the temporary mailbox identifier, address, expiry, and received message fields needed to show mail, including sender, subject, sanitized body, preview, and arrival time. Received scripts, styles, images, forms, and attachments are not offered as usable message content.

Anyone with access to the inbox session can read its contents. Do not treat an expiring inbox as a secure archive for secrets or sensitive personal information. The privacy policy describes infrastructure, browser storage, and retention; the terms explain permitted use.

How we write the guides

InboxForNow publishes and maintains the product guides on this site. Descriptions of our own timer and receiving behavior are checked against the implementation and its automated tests. Where a platform provides authoritative verification documentation, the platform guide links to it.

Official documentation about a signup flow does not prove that our receiving domain works with that platform. We label acceptance as unverified unless supported by documented testing, explain known restrictions, and avoid delivery-time promises. Guide review dates refer to substantive reviews, not automatic rebuilds.
